Collabs

I am extremely excited to announce my first collaboration with Frank Prince. This project is a totally new and unique style for me and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result.

I Missed Again

Drawing inspiration from Cy Twombly’s Blackboard series, as seen in the spontaneous cursive-like loops of yellow chalk. The abstract influences of Jean-Michel Basquiat and Joan Mitchell are also evident with the use of bold colour blocks and raw, primal shapes.

The title, I Missed Again, is actually a nod to the Phil Collins song of the same name – I often title my pieces by the song that inspired them. In this case it’s mostly a reflection of a frequent inner monologue I have when working on a new piece where I have a gnawing feeling of uncertainty, even maybe imposter syndrome to a degree, about how the work will be received.

But ultimately for me the thought of “missing again” is far better than never even trying. So despite Face Value interpretation, I actually see it as a triumphal message. I Missed Again really means I Tried Again, and that’s the most important thing to me.

The I Missed Again original and a limited number of prints are now available to purchase from the Frank Prince website.
